# Overview

The Webservices.nl integration enriches ContactManager with Chamber of Commerce data: a company can be searched and imported by its Chamber of Commerce number, and Dutch and international addresses can be looked up instead of typed. With the update service enabled, imported companies are watched and changes at the Chamber of Commerce are offered for review.

Background information on the service itself is available at https://ws1.webservices.nl/documentation (opens new window).

# Setup

Settings are in the Webservices.nl section of the CRM Configuration screen — see Webservices.nl Configuration for every setting.

  1. Enter the UserName and Password of the Webservices.nl account. The integration is active as soon as both are filled in. Do not use the account of an administrator: with the update service enabled, tracking is registered per user name.
  2. Choose the BusinessType that matches the subscription.
  3. Decide which lookup values may be created automatically when they do not exist yet in ContactManager: legal forms, industry codes and company sizes.
  4. Set the address types used for the imported postal and visitor address (AddressTypeCorrespondence and AddressTypeEstablisment).
  5. Optionally enable the update service.

Test environments: create a separate Webservices.nl account for the test environment and leave the update service disabled there, so test runs do not register tracking or consume credits on the production account.

Each request has a TimeOut, in seconds. A request that exceeds it fails immediately with an error — it is not retried.

Webservices.nl runs a secondary host, and ContactManager falls back to it when a request comes back with not found or service unavailable, or when the connection itself fails. That one request is then retried against the secondary host, and all requests keep using it for an hour before switching back to the primary host.

# Address lookup

Addresses are normally imported from the service rather than typed, which keeps them consistent with the Chamber of Commerce registration. Three settings decide how much freedom users have:

  • AddressNLEditable — may a Dutch address be edited manually
  • AddressNlManual — may a Dutch address be created manually
  • AddressIntEditable — may an address outside the Netherlands be edited manually

Administrators may always edit an address manually, whatever these settings say.

# Update Service

With EnableUpdateService enabled, ContactManager checks every day whether the Chamber of Commerce entities it tracks have been updated.

Tracking has to be switched on at Webservices.nl for the account used in the configuration. Request it through https://www.webservices.nl/nl/26/contact (opens new window). Once the update service is enabled in ContactManager, every company imported through the integration is registered for updates automatically.

Changes are never applied to ContactManager directly. When updates are found, an e-mail is sent to the data manager and the updates are queued. They can then be reviewed and merged with the company from the CRM Configuration screen. Fields listed in AutomaticSyncForFields are the exception: those are imported without manual confirmation.

Chamber of Commerce numbers can also be tracked or untracked in bulk with the ChamberOfCommerceUpdateService import — see Import types. The Action column decides what happens per row:

Action Effect Credits
empty Track the company for further updates No credits charged
remove or 1 Stop tracking the company No credits charged
update or 2 Import the latest version from Webservices.nl without tracking it Charged as a new company
addandupdate or 3 Import the latest version and track the company Charged as a new company
